Cathy Richards A lifetime local resident of the York area, Cathy manages the York Music Shop. Her professional background includes a long-time management stint at a Pennsylvania-based full line music retail chain as well as playing drums for almost 20 years. Cathy's first introduction to her personal musical endeavors began with piano at age 5. Literally 80% of Cathy's life has been associated with music and related pursuits. Damian Nopulos Damian was born and raised in Catonsville and Ellicott City, MD, and coincidentally bought his first 'real' guitar from Jim. Over 15 years later, he moved to York is now the sales manager and resident shredder here at York Music Shop. He currently plays in a Baltimore based thrash-metal band and occasionally fills guitar and bass spots for other local acts live and in-studio. As a live and recording musician, as well as a certified recording engineer, Damian understands how much the right instrument can help a musician discover worlds of creativity within themselves, and what it can mean to a player to have a guitar that becomes a part of them and inspires them to pursue their musical aspirations to the fullest. Kate Nopulos Kate is a Baltimore native who has been exposed to the world of music and art from an early age. Some of her earliest memories include traveling with her father and brothers around the Baltimore area for musical equipment as well as watching their live performances. Kate fell in love with the idea of performing and was accepted as a theatre major at the prestigious Baltimore School for the Arts. After graduation, Kate continued to nurture her creative side by taking guitar lessons from her then boyfriend. Kate has now been playing guitar for over nine years and drums for about five. Recently married to a gigging musician, she understands the value of a dollar. She will help you find the best gear at the best price. Ben Singleton Born with a guitar in hand, Ben has been surrounded by music from the start. His earliest memories include traveling to vintage guitar shows with his father, Jim, all over the country. As he grew, he began traveling on his own to enjoy a wide variety of bands, immersing him in music. Now he enjoys helping musicians find the gear they need to get the sound they're looking for. He uses his experiences, from the vintage guitar shows to the concerts he attends, to find the perfect balance of sound, price, and quality for all of his customers. Jaime Nash Jaime was introduced to music by her grandfather who was a touring musician. Her love for music was so strong that she pretended to play the clarinet in the school band just to be accepted. As a teenager, Jaime immersed herself in many different music styles while traveling. She moved between Maryland and Delaware before returning to Pennsylvania where she began working in the customer service industry. Based on her love of helping people and music of all types, Jaime has found her niche here. She's a straight shooter who will be there before and after a sale to ensure that everyone has a chance to experience the gift of music. Kyle Dellinger Kyle Dellinger, a native of the York area, has been playing, writing, and recording music for over 14 years. He is a graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a double major in music recording technology and music performance. Kyle has played saxophone for the majority of his life, and has picked up bass, guitar, and banjo in more recent years. Kyle has experience performing a multitude of musical styles, from solo classical recitals to group jazz ensembles to rock & roll revues. He is well versed in written and aural music theory, and has experience with arranging and composing music. Kyle is also skilled in various in-depth recording and live sound techniques and practices. Like a boss. Because of this, Kyle understands the importance of technical knowledge, but is very interested in maintaining and preserving art in a pure form. Kyle's goal is to help aspiring and professional musicians find a reliable instrument that not only suits them well, but sparks creativity and confidence within themselves. |

York's Instructors
Kenny Blackstock Kenny is a full-time professional musician and teacher, who instructs students in guitar, bass, and mandolin. He has a B.A. in Music Education from Shepherd College in Shepherd Town, WV with a Classical & Jazz background. Kenny also trained at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Kenny teaches his students to read music and gives them a firm foundation in chord structure & theory that will enable them to play in diverse styles of music. He is not limited to a certain type of student; he enjoys teaching anyone, of any age, who has a willingness to learn. Kenny currently has a roster of approximately 40 students. Kenny has played and taught a wide variety of styles for the past 30 years.

Steve Arnold Mr. Arnold holds a B.A. in Music Performance from York College where he majored in guitar. He studied guitar with Ray Chester, the head of the guitar department at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore MD. In addition to teaching privately, Mr. Arnold has played in various rock bands in the York, Harrisburg, and Lancaster area and believes these experiences enable him to teach a wide variety of musical styles. Mr. Arnold believes all students possess musical talent, and with a trained, experienced teacher, they will find successful and creative ways to develop this ability. Fundamentals become the building blocks for future progress. Therefore, notation, reading, rhythm, ear training, music theory, and proper study techniques in memoraztion will be stressed in his teaching.
